Official Statutory Provision
Subject to the provisions of this Act, a Family Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction to entertain, try and dispose of any suit relating to: (a) dissolution of marriage, (b) restitution of conjugal rights, (c) dower, (d) maintenance, and (e) guardianship and custody of children.

When the written statement is filed, the Family Court shall fix a date for pre-trial proceeding. The Court shall examine the plaint, written statement, and documents, and shall endeavor to effect a compromise or reconciliation between the parties.
